NOVA Chemicals Sponsorship of Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Safety Award

In the spirit of safety, we are proud to be the sponsor of the Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Safety Award for the second year in a row.

At the Stampede closing ceremony on July 16, 2023, NOVA Chemicals President and CEO Roger Kearns presented the award to Kurt Bensmiller in front of roughly 18,000 fans. Bensmiller was the chuckwagon driver who amassed the lowest number of penalties and fastest cumulative running time over the 10 days of racing. The Safety Award consists of a bronze trophy and a $25,000 check.

Safety is core to everything we do here at NOVA, and the Stampede Safety Award does a great job of reflecting how our individual choices can make a big difference in the safety of our larger teams,” said Kearns.
