We are proud to announced the release of our new FDA-compliant recycled polyethylene (rPE) resin. Sourced from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) milk jugs, it is the first mechanically recycled food-contact resin to hit the food packaging market.
The new grade, SYNDIGO™ rPE-0860-FC, is part of our SYNDIGO rPE portfolio and offers a lower-emission alternative to virgin polyethylene. Converters and brand owners will now be able to incorporate rPE into their food packaging products in both flexible and rigid packaging designs.
“Achieving the high level of performance needed for use in food contact puts this recycled resin in a field with few others and allows our customers to target the most demanding applications,” said Alan Schrob, NOVA Chemicals director of mechanical recycling. As we help producers increase the use of rPE, we eliminate plastic waste and reduce the carbon footprint of plastic packaging.
SYNDIGO rPE-0860-FC resin is ideal for converters and brand owners who are moving toward more sustainable practices and products. Our SYNDIGO rPE portfolio includes three other resins that can be used for non-food contact applications such as e-commerce mailers and industrial films, all designed to strengthen the supply of post-consumer recycled (PCR) material to meet emerging recycled content requirements and legislation.
